Today will be fun day. We'll be dealing with a guy
armed with his voice, his ukulele and his alter ego.
George Hicks, currently aged 26, came to prominence 3
years ago, when he covered Azealia Banks' 212 for youtube. Hicks appears in the
video strumming a ukulele, against a backdrop of a roaring fire and
leather-bound books, nestled in a wooden armchair and accompanied by a tea and
cake spread. He is singing as his alter ego, posh and prim Lord Hicks. The
video was a hit, getting tens of thousands views.
Hicks was studying German and Italian at St. Anne's
College in Oxford at the time.

And here he is, covering another hit by Azealia called
Fancy:
However, it is his very recent video, which he
uploaded on youtube just a few days ago, that I want to discuss. It's a
hilarious song, which he performs once again as Lord Hicks, accompanied by his
ukulele. It's called The Grindr Song or The Ballad Of Looking For Love
On Grindr and it's exactly what you expect it to be. For those of you who
don't now, Grindr is an app that allows gay man to find other gay men for sex.
Apparently it's very popular. Whatever works, I guess...
Here's the video:
